[ARCHIVED] Be Storm Ready

Fall has arrived and it is time to prepare for the storm season. During heavy downpours, it is likely you will see some localized street flooding, which will subside as the water dissipates into the storm drains and creeks. If you see street flooding in the absence of a heavy downpour, please contact 916-727-4770.

Throughout storm season, it is important to keep gutters and culverts clear of debris such as leaves and twigs that can prevent water from flowing into storm drains and cause localized flooding. To prevent clogged drains, properly dispose of yard waste in your green waste bin.

If you see a clogged storm drain, contact the General Services Department at 916-727-4770. If safe, you may attempt to remove the debris with a garden rake. Due to the volume of calls, there is limited staff available during a storm event.
