05.15.2023

On Monday, May 15th at approximately 5:03am, the Citrus Heights Police Department communication’s center was contacted by a subject who advised that he had been shot near the intersection of Greenback Lane and Auburn Blvd.

Officers immediately responded to the area and located an unoccupied vehicle (2016 Audi) parked at a gas station which appeared to have several bullet holes in the windshield. Across the street, officers located a male subject who stated he suffered a gunshot wound to the leg. The male subject appeared to be under the influence of narcotics but had not sustained a gunshot wound.

During the course of the investigation and after reviewing surveillance footage from the area, it was determined that that driver of the vehicle fired several shots from inside the vehicle which exited the front windshield. After firing the rounds, the subject exited the vehicle and fled across the street where he was located by the responding officers.

The suspect was determined to be a 43 year old male who was active to parole. During a search of the subject, officers located narcotics and ammunition in his pockets. During a search of his vehicle, officers located two pistols and a rifle. Several spent shell casings from the rifle were located inside the vehicle. The spent shell casing confirmed that the suspect fired the rounds from inside the vehicle at unknown target. The vehicle located on scene was registered to the arrested subject’s spouse.

The suspect was transported to a local hospital for medical clearance and was then transported to County jail. He was arrested for felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, negligent discharge of a firearm, possession of narcotics and driving under the influence of narcotics.
