[ARCHIVED] Elder Abuse and Robbery

arrested

March 16, 2015— At approximately 4:34pm, officers responded to the area of Sunrise Blvd and Greenback Lane regarding a possible robbery. It was determined an adult male (70 years) was assaulted and robbed of his money and other belongings. The victim was transported via ambulance to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Witnesses provided descriptions of the suspects and a CHPD patrol officer quickly located the suspects fleeing from the scene.

One of the suspects later identified as Garett Wallace (24 years) fled on foot from officers into a nearby apartment complex. The second suspect, identified as Briardy Duran (20 years) did not run and was detained by patrol officers. Sacramento Air1 helicopter provided assistance with a perimeter. Wallace was located a short time later hiding in a patio area of an apartment. Wallace was taken into custody without further incident. The suspects were arrested and booked into the Sacramento County jail for the charges of robbery, elder abuse, and battery with great bodily injury.
