[ARCHIVED] Homicide – Mary Ann Way

Community Update

On August 31st, 2023, at approximately 7:15pm, Citrus Heights Police responded to the report of a disturbance inside a residence located in the 7100 block of Mary Ann Way. One witness reported two subjects inside the residence suffered gunshot wounds.

Officers arrived and located an adult female and an adult male inside the house, both with gunshot wound injuries. Life-sustaining medical aid was provided by officers and paramedics. The female was pronounced deceased at the scene due to her injuries. The male was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries and is being treated.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending the notification of her next of kin.

Citrus Heights Detectives responded and began a homicide investigation to include interviewing witnesses and reviewing evidence. Citrus Heights Crime Scene Investigators (CSI) arrived and also collected multiple pieces of evidence.

Based on the investigation, we know this tragic event was between two individuals who knew each other. There are no additional threats of danger to the community, and the suspect is in police custody.
