SILVER ALERT MESSAGE

On Thursday, December 25, 2014, at 8:35am the California Highway Patrol initiated a Silver Alert notification for Citrus Heights Resident James Mengel (77 years old). James was reported missing on today’s date by a family member and last seen on December 24, 2014 at 11:30pm. The Citrus Heights Police Department has conducted a thorough investigation and determined a Silver Alert should be initiated.

The Silver Alert is a public notification system in the United States to broadcast information about missing persons – especially seniors with Alzheimer's Disease, dementia, or other mental disabilities – in order to aid in their return.

James is believed to be driving his white, 2004 Toyota Tacoma, license plate # 7M40197 (similar picture attached). James is also believed to be traveling alone.

Anyone with information regarding James’ whereabouts is encouraged to contact Citrus Heights Police at (916) 727-5500.

On Thursday, December 25, 2014, at approximately 9:30pm James Mengel was located safely by the California Highway Patrol in Truckee, California. He was found in good health and is currently in the process of being reunited with his family. The Silver Alert has been cancelled and the Citrus Heights Police Department would like to thank the community and our media partners for their assistance in locating Mr. Mengel.
