On September 5, 2018, the Citrus Heights Police Department Dispatch team went live with Text-to-9-1-1 capability. The web-based system allows for all cell phone subscribers within the Citrus Heights city limits to send a text message to 9-1-1 in the event of an emergency. As of October 17, 2018, the entire Sacramento County region has this texting capability, including Fire Dispatch. While pictures and video are not yet a component of this program, these developments are expected in later versions.
