April 24, 2016 – The Citrus Heights Police Department’s Traffic Unit is investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian. The collision occurred shortly after 9:45 p.m. on Old Auburn Road just east of Sunrise Boulevard. The investigation required the closure of Old Auburn Road, from Sunrise Boulevard to Soquel Way, for approximately 6 hours.
At approximately 9:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to a collision where a vehicle struck a pedestrian in the roadway on Old Auburn Road, east of Sunrise Boulevard. Upon arrival, Citrus Heights Police Officers found the male subject in the roadway with injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Following the collision, the driver stopped and has been cooperative with the investigation. Neither speed nor alcohol appears to have been a factor in the collision.
The deceased male was 59 years old and was identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office. His identity is being withheld until notification can be made to his next of kin.
