The City of Citrus Heights is dedicated to protecting the rights of renters and landlords and promoting fair housing choice. We want everyone to know that discrimination in housing is illegal and provide you with the resources you need to resolve issues. 

Fair Housing Laws

Discrimination in housing rental, sales and financing on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, marital status, source of income, disability or familial status is prohibited by Federal Fair Housing Act and state law Fair Employment and Housing Act.

Renters Helpline

The Renters Helpline provides telephone counseling and mediation services for residents in a housing crisis or dispute. The program counselors deal directly with concerns regarding landlord-tenant disputes and help refer housing issues to the appropriate agency.

Federal Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity (FHEO)

FHEO, a division of the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development, administers and enforces federal laws and establishes polices that make sure all Americans have equal access to the housing of their choice.
