Beginning in May 2022, the City began requiring all short-term rental locations to hold a business license. A short-term rental (STR) is a residential dwelling, or part of, that is rented on a short-term basis (30 days or less). STRs are commonly found advertised on and rented through on-line platforms such as Airbnb or VRBO.
The host or property owner of the short-term rental must file for the business license prior to operation. The Business License for a short-term rental is $108.00 for the first year and is renewed annually. Applications are submitted on-line through the Business License Portal.
Important information for short-term rental operators:
- Short-term rental units are limited to a maximum occupancy of no more than 2 people per bedroom plus 2 additional guests between the hours of 10 PM and 7 AM.
The operation of a short-term rental requires the operator to collect and remit transient occupancy tax (TOT). Please visit www.citrusheights.net/tot for more information on TOT |
