The Sunrise Recreation and Park District is the provider of parks and recreation services within Citrus Heights.

Park Facilities

Within the city, there are 25 parks, comprising over 312 acres. The park spaces in Citrus Heights range from active parks with playing fields, tot lots and picnic areas, to more passive parks preserving historic groves of oak trees and creek areas.

Rental Facilities

Sunrise Recreation and Park District has rental facilities available for rental for meetings, weddings, and other special occasions.

Classes, Programs & Activities

Additionally, Sunrise Recreation and Park District offers a wide variety of classes, programs, and recreational activities for youth, teens, adults, and seniors.

City Project Partnerships

Citrus Heights appreciates the value of parks and recreational programs as part of overall quality of life in the community. Since incorporation, the city and Sunrise Recreation and Park District have partnered on a number of significant projects such as:

  • After school programs at numerous Citrus Heights schools
  • Construction of a skateboard park at Rusch Park
  • Construction of new restroom facilities at Rusch Park
  • Renovation of Rusch Park Swimming Pool
  • Replacement of playground equipment at many parks with Community Development Block Grant funds
  • Upgrades and face lift for Westwood Park
  • Vouchers for low-income families for youth programs

City Event Partnerships

For many years, Sunrise Recreation and Park District has also partnered with the city on several large city events. Such events include:

  • Community Campout
  • Hot August Bites
  • Sunday Funday
