The City of Citrus Heights is conducting a study to evaluate certain sites along Auburn Boulevard for design, density, and market feasibility for conversion of vacant retail spaces into multi-family and residential mixed-use development. This project, funded through a grant from SACOG, will ultimately provide implementation tools, including objective standards, for the conversion of inactive spaces/vacant buildings into housing units. The addition of housing units will bring activity to the Boulevard, expanding the customer base for existing business as well as increasing housing choices and affordability in Citrus Heights. Throughout the process, the city and its consultant, Opticos Design, will work with the public, stakeholders, and decision makers to evaluate design concepts supported by market feasibly analysis.
