Citrus Heights General Services Department (GSD) provides oversight and project management for a number of private development/redevelopment and public improvement projects. GSD's role in private construction projects typically includes plan review for the public improvement portion of the project (sidewalk, curb, gutter, storm drain system, traffic signals, street lights). The remaining on-site improvements are typically reviewed and inspected by the City's Building and Safety Division with the exception of sanitary sewer facilities which are the responsibility of the Sacramento Area Sewer District (SASD).
GSD's role in public improvement projects includes oversight and review of environmental studies and engineering, right-of-way acquisition needed for construction projects, construction management, and inspection of construction activities. Some typical public improvement projects are roadway widening or enhancement, pavement resurfacing, or drainage system improvements.

2011 Annual Accessibility Improvements Project |
The Annual Accessibility Improvements Project concentrates on ADA repairs, more specifically, curb access ramp reconstruction and upgrades to crosswalks at signalized intersections. This years project focused on the following locations: 1) ADA ramps all along Rollingwood between Auburn Blvd and Antelope Road and the intersection of Garden Gate and Antelope Road; 2) ADA Upgrades in Area 5 around Shuppe, Grady and Peoria; and 3) the intersections of Fair Oaks and Treecrest and Fair Oaks and Sunrise East. |
Construction began in February 2011 and is expected to wrap up by July. The project budget is $330,000, comprised of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Stormwater fund |

Antelope Road Accessibility Improvements - Lauppe Lane to Auburn Blvd |
This project will construct approximately 1400 lineal feet of sidewalk infill along the southside of Antelope Road between Lauppe Lane and just west of Auburn Blvd. Pedestrian upgrades at the Lauppe Lane/Antelope intersection will include upgraded curb access ramps, vibratactile push buttons, audible countdown devices, and upgraded traffic signal modifications. Although the project is funded by local monies (Measure A Capital), these improvements will complete the Safe Routes to School for students attending Mesa Verde and Carriage Elementary. |
Construction is tentatively scheduled for Fall 2011. The total project is estimated at $500,000. |

Auburn Blvd Enhancements Complete Streets -Sylvan Corners to Rusch Park |
This project will underground all overhead utilities along the boulevard from just north of Sylvan Corners extending up to Rusch Park. Additional improvements focus on the area of Sycamore to Rush Park. For more detail on this project, please visit the Auburn Blvd Newsletter page. |

Greenback Lane-Auburn Blvd Intersection Improvements Project |
This project reconstructs the entire intersection of Greenback Lane and Auburn Blvd. Improvements include full road reconstruction, reconstructed medians, ADA and pedestrian upgrades at all four corners of the intersection, and traffic signal modifications. Stormwater Improvements Projects |
Up until July 2010, the City's stormwater system was fully maintained by the County. Since then, the City has assumed full responsibility for operations and maintenance, as well as the systems capital improvements. | Sunrise Boulevard Complete Streets Project - Phase I - Oak Avenue to Antelope Road |
This project will construct significant pedestrian, bicyle and ADA improvements, as well as enhance the roadway for transit users. Improvements will include widened sidewalks, ADA compliant curb access ramps, stamped crosswalks, vibrating pedestrian push buttons and audible count down devices a the crosswalks. New LED street lights will be installed, as well as enhanced medians and landscaping. Additionally, this segment of Sunrise will receive a full road repaving. |
The anticipated schedule for construction is early Spring through late Fall 2012. The estimated budget is around $5million. |
