CURRENT PROJECTS LIST
As of  May 24, 2013

The Planning Department processes a variety of projects.  Below is a list of activity processed through the Planning Department.  The list is divided into four sections.  The first area "New Project Submittal" lists the most recent applications received.  The next section is "Projects Under Review".  These projects are currently being processed by the division.  Some projects are approved by Planning Staff and some require approval by the Planning Commission and/or the City Council.  The section titled "Projects Scheduled for Hearing" are applications that are scheduled on an upcoming agenda for a hearing before the Planning Commission or the City Council.  The "Recently Completed" section lists projects that were recently approved, denied, withdrawn, or under construction.  This page is updated on a regular basis, check back often. 

 New Project Submittal

 The following applications were recently received by the Planning Division.  Some applications require a public hearing.  Once a hearing is scheduled for a project the project will be listed under the "Projects Scheduled for Hearing" section.

The following applications are under review by the Planning Division and other agencies. These applications will be forwarded to the the approving authority for final action at a later date.

7515 Cook Ave - 5-Unit Apartment
. The applicant has filed an application to allow for the development of a 5-unit apartment building.
6185 Sunrise Blvd - Sign Exception Marketplace at Birdcage.
The applicant has filed an application to allow the installation of new monument signs of extended height..
6041 Sunrise Mall - Sunrise Mall Expansion Project.  The property owners have submitted a 3-year master plan for the redevelopment and expansion of the Sunrise Mall area.  The master plan includes the demolition of approximately 9,718 square feet of existing buildings and the addition of approximately 77,300 square feet of new buildings to have a total ground lease area of 1,230,210 square feet.  The new buildings would include 6 restaurant pad buildings and other retail users. To learn more about this project, visit the Sunrise Mall Expansion page. 7015
Whyte Ave - Parcel Map
. The applicant has filed a Parcel Map application to divide a 1.22 acre residential lot into two lots

 Projects Recently Approved or Under Construction

 The following projects were recently approved or are under construction.

6508/6510 Antelope Road - Relocation of Two Cardrooms. On April 10, 2013, the Planning Commission made a recomendation to the City Council to approve multiple planning entitlements that would allow the City's 2 existing cardrooms (Lucky Derby & Phoenix) to relocate to 6508/6510 Antelope Road where the cardrooms would operate separately but in one buildings. The cardroom project will also include on-site alcohol sales and a resturant open to the cardroom patrons and the general public. The project includes the adoption of a Negative Declaration as the appropriate level of environmental review, and Ordinance Text Amendment for Zoning Code Sections 106.26 and 106.42.020.C, the approval of Use Permit UP-12-06 and Design Review Permit Modification DRPMOD-12-09 for the project. The Initial Study and Negative Declaration for the project is available for public review and comment beginning on March 22, 2013 and ends at 5:00 pm on April 22, 2013. 7904 Auburn Blvd. - Retail Builing.
The applicant was approved for a permit extenstion to allow development of a retail commercial building totaling 4,990 square feet in size.
7241 Canelo Hills Dr - Sun Oak Assisted Living.
The applicant was approved for a modification to existing Use Permit to allow an expansion from 70 bed to 78 bed facility. Link to agenda and staff reports
6300 Greenback Lane - Living Word Christian Fellowship.  The applicant was approved for a Use Permit and a Design Review Permit to convert an existing building into a church.  The proposed changes include the addition of stain glass windows and a steeple.
8000 Greenback Lane - Brake Masters. A Use Permit and a Design Review Permit were approved to allow for the construction of a new 4,711 square foot building for minor auto repair in the SC zoning district. Mitigated Negative Declaration
8220 Sunrise Blvd - Sunrise Senior Care.  The Planning Commission approved a Use Permit to allow for the construction and operation of a 74,000 square foot Senior Care Facility on a 4.55 acre site.  The 99 bed facility will offer 65 assisted living Units and 34 memory care units.
6105 Sunrise Vista Dr - Indian Oven Restaurant & Banquet Facility. The applicant was approved for a Use Permit and Design Review Permit to convert and existing 22,000 sf building into a restaurant with banquet facilities.
