San Juan High School Media Class'
"Through the Eyes of Youth"
May 2009
San Juan High School seeks to address the growing need for digital artists in the workplace with a Digital Media Pathway for students who seek training in design, production and distribution of digital art. The media labs at San Juan High School use powerful Apple computers with industry standard software to teach video production, web design and studio management. Students in the Media Class were presented with the task to create a video describing what life is like for youth in Citrus Heights. Their video was shown at the Citrus Heights Youth Summit on May 2, 2009 and it was a hit! Congratulations to the San Juan Media Class for a job well done!

Reports on Youth
The Sacramento County Children's Report Card and the California Healthy Kids Survey are two reports about the youth in our community. The Report Card is updated every two years through a community driven process to determine what the community believes are the most important facts or indicators about children.
This report serves as the foundation to help the community guide policy development and allocate resources, set goals for improvement, track changing conditions, promote county-wide responsibility for positive change, and spur research in areas where information is lacking. Also, updated every two years is the California Healthy Kids Survey. This survey was designed to measure behaviors and, particularly, the factors that influence them. This report summarizes the results for key indicators of risk and well-being. The CHKS is an integral part of efforts to improve student academic performance, enhance youth assets, and promote positive youth development. For more information about these reports, please visit the Youth Resource Center's Reports page.
