Since shortly after incorporation 15 years ago, the City of Citrus Heights has conducted periodic phone surveys using a professional survey company in order to assess residents' perceptions regarding city satisfaction, quality of life, sense of community, safety, and city-resident communication. The surveys have helped the City Council and staff to focus on areas of interest and understand what the community wants. This year's survey of over 400 randomly selected residents was compared to the 2007 survey in order to learn about any changes in perceptions or opinions. The 2012 Resident Satisfaction Survey found that overall, 85% of residents surveyed are satisfied with the services provided by the City and more than half feel there is strong sense of community. A vast majority of residents surveyed believe the City does a good job managing its budget despite the on-going downturn in the economy. However, residents are not as optimistic about the future as they were five years ago at the height of the economy and housing market. These issues are a top priority for the Citrus Heights City Council Members and the City Staff. The City will use these results to help understand where they can make improvements and further meet the needs of the residents to enhance their satisfaction levels.
